INTRODUCTION TO YOGA
Six Week Class
You've never done yoga before and you just want to check it out and see if it's for you? This is the class for you. Get a gentle easy start and learn the principles. This class will only be offered the second six weeks of our 12 week session.
LEVEL 1
• Good for beginners of all ages.
• Emphasis on detailed instruction, basic alignment and standing poses.
• Build strength and flexibility.
• Relax and breathe.
LEVEL 1-2
• Next step after Level I.
• Some yoga experience but new to Anusara.
• Introduction to the Universal Principles of Alignment.
• Emphasis on building endurance.
• Exploration of a wider range of postures.
LEVEL 2
• You've done Level I-2 and you still love yoga.
• Deepen your experience of the benefits of Anusara.
• Build endurance and peace of mind.
• Develop a well rounded and challenging practice that you can take home.
• Dive into breath and meditation techniques
LEVEL 3
• Explore and work toward more and more challenging postures
• Deepen your experience of all posture groups but especially back bends and inversions
• Build endurance and peace of mind.
• Continue to support and develop your home practice
• Deepen your understanding of yoga philosophy and the underpinnings of Anusara
GENTLE YOGA
• New to yoga and want a gentle start? Special concerns, injuries, or
stress?
• Combines warm-ups, gentle and restorative postures, breath work and
guided relaxation.
YOGA FOR WOMEN OVER 50
This class will focus on the basic standing poses and explore some supported inversions and backbends. It is geared for older women who are experiencing some of the surprises of menopause and aging and perhaps beginning to encounter arthritis and more resistance in their bodies. Prerequisite: At least one session of Level One.
YOGA FOR MOOD MANAGEMENT
Yoga for Mood Management teaches strategies that can help alleviate both depression and anxiety, and methods to safely release chronically held tension and repressed emotions in the physical and emotional body.
Learn and explore:
- Breathing techniques that regulate the emotions
- Meditations that lift the mood
- Creating Affirmations
- Guided Visualizations
- Sound therapy for the emotional body
- Simple yoga postures suitable for beginners
MIXED LEVEL
• Level 1-2 and above.
• Posture sequence with variations and modifications given.
FINDING BALANCE - RELEASING STRESS
Yoga, breath and meditation are strong medicine! In this nine week class we will explore the time honored practices of mindfulness meditation, conscious breathing, yoga, healthy diet and visualization to free ourselves from the vicious cycle of negative stress patterns. These holistic practices have been shown in many studies to be more powerful than medication when practiced faithfully. This class draws from Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, LifeForce Yoga, Ayurveda and Buddhist Psychology.
EARLY MORNING YOGA
Enjoy a really great start to your day. Get up and get moving with this mixed level flow class.
YOGA THERAPEUTICS
• Dukha is Sanskrit for pain; Sukha is comfort. Cultivate your body's innate intelligence to move from Dukha to Sukha by applying therapeutic principals of yoga to your practice.
• Four different areas of common misalignment will be experienced:
Week 1, 2: Scoliosis
Week 3, 4: Feet, Ankles & Knees
Week 5, 6: Hips & Lower Back
Week 7, 8: Shoulders, Neck & Arms
Week 9-12 Svadhyaya & Aparigraha (Self study and letting go)
Classes also include supported restorative postures and extended Savasana
• Recommended for Level 1-2 and above.
• Regular EOG students: Drop in and deepen your practice with emphasis on an area of misalignment you are experiencing.
FIRE OF TRANSFORMATION
Based on John Friend's Eye of the Tiger Practic with Mimi Ray
Eye of the tiger is a challenging practice developed by John Friend, the founder of Anusara Yoga. An invitation to light the inner fire of the heart; transform and reshape your practice. Play your edge: develop strength, flexibility and joy in community. Mimi practices alongside you, offering direction and guidance. Experienced Anusara students welcome. Prerequisite: ability to kick up to handstand at the wall & push up to backbend on your own or permission of the teacher
MORNING PRANAYAMA
Yogic Breathing Practices are an integral part of wellness. Learn how working with the breath can foster, healing, understanding, and well-being. Experience how a morning pranayama practice can center and energize you for your day. Suitable for all levels.
VINYASA FLOW
This will be a fast moving, come prepared to sweat class. We will move through a series of sun salutations and intermediate to advanced poses. The room will be heated to 80 degrees. Experienced yoga students only.
